Testing for the presence of prohibited substances will include a drug and alcohol test as part of standard procedure. There are several types of drug tests, the major ones of which are a urine drug screen, hair follicle test, saliva drug screen, sweat drug screen and a blood test. Any one of these may be used for a drug and alcohol test.
In a urine drug screen, the person being tested is sent to a collection center where a sample of the person’s urine is placed in a tamper-proof container and sent to an accredited laboratory to be tested for the presence of drugs or alcohol. The results are reviewed by an independent physician and transmitted to a parent, potential employer or whoever ordered the drug and alcohol test.
